Emerging Technologies Webcast and Questionnaire
The Food Regulatory Issues Division (FRID) of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) recently co-hosted a webinar to Identify Emerging Food Products, Technologies and Processes that Contribute to Health.
This archive webcast allows stakeholders in Canada’s agri-food industry sector to share their thoughts on the emerging food products, technologies and processes that will have regulatory implications over the coming decade. Emerging issues were identified by Nutrasource Diagnostics Inc. as part of a joint project led by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in collaboration with Health Canada.
This validation exercise will help to establish priorities and propose realistic timelines for the emerging issues. The exercise focuses on new food products, technologies and processes that can be applied to the food supply to enhance safety, change nutritional composition or address factors associated with diet-related health issues. The emphasis is on food products that will likely be commercialized and require pre-market regulatory review (e.g. novel food, food additive or health claim pre-market approval) over the next 10 years.
You can access the archived webcast and can complete a questionnaire and provide feedback to AAFC by April 20th. The webcase includes resource material, including a consultant report identifying specific innovations.
